Selling to retailers can be a daunting task, especially if you don't consider yourself a "salesperson". In the CPG industry, this is especially challenging because one account can make or break your business.
That's why I put together a sales pitch template that you can use for your business that hits on the key points retail buyers want to hear.
A few additional tips:
🛒 Make the pitch about the buyer and retailer, not you.
🎯 You're not the "only product like this" on the market. Buyers get pitched similar things all the time.
📊 Understand the buyer's metrics and goals, and build your pitch around it.
What’s the #️⃣ 1 mistake you’ve made with e-commerce?
For me, it was not investing in the channel early enough, leading to a non-optimized platform.
🚨SLOW SITE SPEED
Our site was built on Wordpress, which was ok, other than the fact we had 50 plugins and the site was extremely slow. We saw huge page abandonment issues.
🚨NO AUTOMATED EMAIL FLOWS
We didn’t set up or test welcome flows, abandoned cart flows, or anything else.
🚨POOR DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT
We didn’t focus on building a community and converting them to loyalists.
These are all crucial things you should be doing with your e-commerce channel! I’ve now fixed those issues and rocking and rolling.

I find that most brands find Amazon a nightmare and avoid it all together.
But Amazon is absolutely amazing when managed correctly.
