💬 Question: I’m getting ready to work with a co-manufacturer, what should I have in the contract?
🎙 Jordan’s Answer: Yes it’s great to have a contract with your manufacturer. At the same time it’s likely your manufacturer won’t sign one. Why? Working with emerging brands is extremely risky to manufacturers and they won’t want to be locked into a contract if they want to decide to drop you at any time.
If your manufacturer is open to a contract, here’s a comprehensive one that JPG Resources put together: Co-Manufacturing Contract Example
You SHOULD at least have a written document or e-mail that stipulates all the major parts of your agreement:
Who’s responsible for purchasing raw ingredients.
Agreement on your Spec sheet and manufacturing process.
Pricing (including setup fees, cleanup fees, pricing per unit or per hour).
How often you will manufacture.
Minimum order quantities.
Who’s responsible for manufacturing issues.
Food safety and quality control checks.

2) I love collaborating with other communities to get founders access to the best help they can get.
Here are my top takeaways on how we can help you with financing and fundraising.
