ASK JORDAN

Ask your questions here to get an answer in a future newsletter.

💬Tara Oliviere Asks: How do I manage all the different retailers category review schedules for new item submissions. And how to get around the “submit on RangeMe” response.

🎙 Jordan’s Answer: Navigating category review calendars is definitely a challenge, so I went to my friend and expert, Caroline Grace to help me answer this:

1️⃣ Prioritize

Start with the retailer’s you’re in. Then look at the retailer’s you’re specifically targeting, prioritize A, B, C.

If you can’t manage, it’s not prioritized enough, so go back and prioritize.

2️⃣ Organize

  1. Create reminders in your calendar

  2. Build your own master calendar to keep track of deadlines and processes for the A,B,C priorities using Excel, Google Sheets, Monday, or Airtable

  3. Use a tool like Toodu, a new CRM for chain retailers

3️⃣ Research

For the A priorities, do DEEP research into their categories and companies to understand what they’re looking for from brands.

Customize your pitch and submission for each and every retailer you’re submitting to.

4️⃣ And on RangeMe

Unfortunately no way to get around the submit on RangeMe, but you can contact the buyers outside of RangeMe to introduce your product. Or you can focus on improving your profile and pitch!

Tied House Laws & Advertising

If you’re a marketer within the alcohol industry, chances are you’re familiar with (and maybe shudder at the thought of) Tied House laws.

Dating back to the pre-Prohibition era, Tied House laws continue to play a huge role in how alcohol brands operate today, particularly when it comes to the advertising of AlcBev products.

Building a High Performing CPG Team

Foodbevy’s Food and Beverage Coach is your go-to resource for asking questions about building and growing your CPG brand.

How is it different from basic ChatGPT? It layers in the hundreds of articles, documents, and posts from Foodbevy to provide specific information about the CPG industry.

How to Stand Out with Packaging Design

In the CPG world each day, countless products jostle for attention on crowded retail shelves, and to consumers glossing by, packaging design can make all the difference to catch their gaze. Beyond merely containing your beloved product, packaging serves as a silent saleswoman, communicating your brand’s identity, values, and enticing consumers – whether they are conscious of it or not – to choose one product over another amongst factors of price, nutritional benefits and perceived value.
