Hey
Discover how Hip Pop Hooray, a small kombucha brewery, achieved remarkable growth and success with BigCommerce. With an impressive increase in revenue, conversion rate, and website traffic, their story is one you don't want to miss.
The Journey Begins: A Great Recipe Based on Friendship
It all started when Kenny Goodman and Emma Thackray, good friends who had each other's backs, decided to tackle a common issue—irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Emma introduced Kenny to her remarkable kombucha recipe, and the impact it had on him was life-changing. Together, they envisioned a kombucha range that was not only beneficial for health but also visually appealing and delicious.
The Challenge: Getting Online Fast with Little Experience
Initially focused on local coffee shops, Kenny and Emma had no plans to venture into ecommerce. However, when COVID-19 struck and local businesses began to close, they realized the importance of establishing an online presence to keep their business afloat.
The Solution: Trying, Learning, and Plugging with BigCommerce
To adapt to the changing circumstances, Kenny reached out to Peter Bacani, the company's Website Developer, who recommended BigCommerce as the ideal platform for their needs. With its user-friendly interface, reliability, and cost-efficiency, BigCommerce proved to be the perfect fit for Hip Pop Hooray.
Within a few months, Kenny and Peter built an impressive online store and launched their direct-to-consumer (DTC) website in January 2021. Although Kenny had limited experience in online selling, he embraced the opportunity to learn and grow alongside his business.
Results that Pop: Traffic and Revenue Soar
Through strategic integrations with Facebook, Instagram, and Google, Hip Pop Hooray maximized brand awareness and drove traffic to their online store. The results were outstanding: a staggering 710% increase in website traffic, a remarkable 102% increase in conversion rate, and an astonishing 1140% increase in revenue generated, comparing March to December 2020 with the same period in 2021.
Looking Ahead: Keep Testing Until You Get It Right
While the reopening of coffee shops poses new challenges for maintaining online sales momentum, Kenny is thrilled with the decision to launch their online store with BigCommerce. He emphasizes the affordability and scalability of the platform and encourages other small businesses to follow suit.
Kenny shares some valuable tips based on his own ecommerce experience. He suggests exploring paid traffic to test your strategies and recommends delving into conversion rate optimization. Remember, learning from existing templates and continuous testing are key to achieving success.
